Energized Electrical Testing for Massachusetts and Vermont Facilities
Live-System Diagnostics for Commercial & Industrial Electrical Equipment
Many electrical problems only show up while a system is carrying load. A connection that looks fine at rest can run hot under current, and a breaker that seems healthy can show a voltage drop once the facility is running at full demand. Comalli Group, Inc. performs energized electrical testing for commercial and industrial facilities across Massachusetts and Vermont, using calibrated instruments and licensed electricians to measure, record, and document how your system is performing right now.
Want to know what your live electrical system is telling you? Call (413) 213-3661 or contact us online to schedule an energized electrical assessment.
Why Testing Under Load Reveals Problems a Standard Walkthrough Can Miss
A visual inspection only shows what can be seen. Energized testing adds data from the system while it operates, so deviations in voltage, current, temperature, and electrical noise can be identified and documented before they turn into outages or damaged equipment.
Massachusetts and Vermont facilities face conditions that make this kind of testing especially useful. Long, cold winters push heating and process loads higher, humidity swings and freeze-thaw cycles can affect enclosures and connections, and many facilities in both states run electrical equipment installed decades ago in older industrial and mill-era buildings. Testing while the system is live shows how that equipment is holding up under real operating conditions.
Our energized inspections look for conditions such as the following.
- Hot spots: High-resistance connections and overloaded conductors that generate heat.
- Voltage irregularities: Readings outside the range your equipment needs to operate properly.
- Electrical noise: Distortion that can strain sensitive electronics and transformers.
- Phase problems: Imbalances that raise operating temperatures and shorten equipment life.
- Early discharge activity: Corona, tracking, and arcing that are not visible to the eye.
Energized Testing Services Performed by Licensed Electricians
Each test gives a different view of system health, and together they build a more complete picture than any single method can. Our energized services follow NFPA 70E safe work practices and NFPA 70B maintenance recommendations.
True RMS Voltage & Current Readings
We capture and record true RMS voltage and current across your system and compare the results against what your equipment requires. Readings that fall outside the expected range point to underlying issues, and catching them early helps protect equipment and its service life.
Voltage Drop Measurements at Breakers & Contact Points
Voltage drop across circuit breakers and contact surfaces shows whether those components are still passing power efficiently. Excessive drop signals components that are wearing out, which raises both equipment and safety concerns. We record the readings so you can see how they change from one visit to the next.
Thermal Imaging & Ultrasonic Scanning
Infrared thermographic imaging, calibrated to NFPA 70B recommendations, reveals heat patterns from loose connections, overloaded circuits, and failing insulation. Ultrasonic testing listens for corona, tracking, and arcing above the range of human hearing. The two methods complement each other, and each can identify conditions the other may miss.
